Mr. Josh Hill, Principal, Corona del Mar High School

Mr. Josh Hill was selected as the new principal of Corona del Mar High School, starting July 31, 2020. Mr. Hill has nearly 20 years of experience in education, most recently serving as the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, secondary in Capistrano Unified School District.

While at Capistrano Unified, the fifth largest district in the State, he spearheaded curriculum adoptions, career technical education programs, employee professional development, and supported the District’s goals toward academic achievement.

Prior to his current administration role, Mr. Hill was principal at two Capistrano Unified high schools where he contributed to student progress and implemented sustainable programs for college and career readiness. He led his team to a successful Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation review and fostered the improvement of student learning in English language arts and mathematics.

He is recognized as a warm, collaborative, and effective leader who prioritizes a school culture, focused on student well-being and high levels of learning for all students.

“We are excited to have Mr. Hill join Newport-Mesa and feel that he will be a strong leader for the Corona del Mar community,” said Assistant Superintendent, Chief Human Resources Officer Ms. Leona Olson.

Mr. Hill obtained his Administrative Services Credential from the University of Redlands, a Masters of Arts in Military History from Norwich University, and his Bachelor of Arts in History Teaching from Brigham Young University.

  • Reflections Art Program- I Matter Because…

    All day
    August 30, 2020

That’s the theme for the 2020-21 Reflections Art Program which has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. And California State PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education. Deadline is Oct. 12, 2020 via online submission. Click here for application.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:

    • Unleash creative talents and be inspired
    • Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
    • Experience the fun and joy of making art
    • Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
    • Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

    • Dance Choreography
    • Literature
    • Photography
    • Film Production
    • Music Composition
    • Visual Arts.

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Outstanding Interpretation and Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.  For more details, Click Here
